Special Edition - Mission Mirror for December

Mission Mirror

Focusing This Month on Christmas Giving Ideas

Within our Community:
                     MidWest Mission Bible Training Center

Midwest Mission Bible Training Center opened in 1998 and can house 30 people. It is a part of the Mission Teens organization based in Norma, NJ.  Mission Teens has training centers in Norma, NJ; Tuscumbia, AL; Gasstra, MI; Ft. Lauderdale, FL; Savannah, GA; Portland, OR; Cresco, IA; Brazil, IN; Honeydew, CA; Jerseyville, IL; Crossville, TN; Paragould, AR; and Marked Tree, AR.

Their website states:  God uses the mission to plant the seed and then nourishes its growth through the Word and prayer. Jesus Christ provides the light through the Holy Spirit and people grow in Him and lives are changed forever. Jesus said, “Come to me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28.

Within our Nation:
                     Pine Ridge Retreat Center

The mission of the Pine Ridge Retreat Center is to foster better understanding between Indian and non-Indian peoples and to make contributions to the life of the people living on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. To accomplish this mission, the Retreat Center offers overnight accommodations to individuals and groups and structures outreach programs such as construction projects, educational experiences, and participation in youth ministry for guests.

Immanuel has been reaching out to the Lakota Sioux people through the Pine Ridge Retreat Center for many years. Previously through Pastor Larry Peterson, and now through Pastor Karen Rupp.

Within our World:
                     ELCA World Hunger

ELCA World Hunger improves the lives of people in need in the United States and around the world by: providing immediate relief for people affected by chronic hunger and poverty; assisting whole communities through long-term, sustainable development to help alleviate chronic hunger and poverty; advocating for justice by changing laws and systems; and educating members of the ELCA in awareness of issues relating to hunger, poverty and justice.  100% of all donations to ELCA World Hunger go to the hunger programs because the administrative costs are contained within the ELCA budget supported by the normal giving in the congregations.

Address: Through the congregation or ELCA World Hunger Appeal,     P.O. Box 71764, Chicago, IL 60694-1764
